THE
MERMAID KINGDOM
Once upon a time, deep in the clear,
blue sea, there was a majestic mermaid kingdom. It was known throughout the
ocean for having a long and very old line of wise merman kings. One of the
wisest, King Delmar had just one daughter, the mermaid princess Helena. He did
not have a son who could become the next king, and so King Delmar sat worrying
on his throne for days. Finally, a little shrimp swam by and asked him why he
looked so sad. When he told the shrimp of his troubles, the tiny creature just
chuckled. He told the King Delmar that mermaids could rule just as well as
mermen. Sure enough, King Delmar passed on the crown and Queen Helena turned
out to be the wisest ruler the kingdom had ever had.
